Our Story
KIMBERLY, BROCK, ASA & ADLER
Kimberly and Brock Beiersdoerfer love people and love donuts! Kimberly is a 2002 graduate of Samford University and received her MBA from UAB. Kimberly had dreamed of owning her own business since college. Brock graduated from Auburn University in the winter of 2000. Sharing the dream with his wife to own a business, he began looking for ways to meet, encourage, and reach out to the people in his community.
In the Spring of 2012, they decided to open a donut shop in their community. Having no previous experience in the donut world (other than eating them), they began seeking mentors to guide them in bringing their dream to life.
A friend recommended seeking out Dave Upton Sr. of Vestavia who, Kimberly and Brock discovered, has a heart for helping young entrepreneurs succeed. After a two hour dinner spent sharing their vision with Mr. Upton and his wife Ann, Mr. Upton agreed to mentor the young couple in getting the business up and running. One of Mr. Upton’s first recommendations was to find a successful donut shop somewhere in the country to answer industry-specific questions that he couldn’t help with. Another search led Brock and Kimberly to Don DeWeese, the owner of Gibson’s Donuts in Memphis, TN. After another two hour dinner in Memphis with Don and his wife Rita, Don invited Brock into his kitchen; showed him what equipment he’d need, what ingredients were best, and most important, what makes Gibson’s glazed donut the best in the country (just ask Alton Brown). Brock learned to make donuts at Gibson’s from a 20 year donut veteran and that veteran came to Birmingham to train the cooks at The Heavenly Donut Company. Since its opening (January 23, 2013), The Heavenly Donut Company has added a donut food truck that can be found at various locations all around the Birmingham area.

Kimberly and Brock live in the Altadena area of Vestavia Hills and are members of Mountaintop Church. Their first son, Asa was born in December 2016 and, believe it or not, was not given a bite of a donut until his 1st birthday. Their second son, Adler, was born in December 2019 and his third word was "hole" as in donut hole!!! It's safe to say that he had his first donut long before his first birthday!
